Why would you believe your intuition over what you are being told?
I was on a spiritual forum and caught this question posted by a member.
The thread was about the challenges of soul-mate relationships and the specific question was "why would you believe your intuition over what your soul-mate is telling you"?
IE: If he/she is telling you they don't want to be with you, why don't you believe it?
Well... at first I thought that was a rational question. Then I got mad. Then I got REALLY mad.
The reason you should believe your intuition over what anyone (soul-mate or other) tells you is because your intuition always tells you the truth, whether what you experience in the physical world is fact or not.
Time after time we find ourselves in situations where our voice/gut/intuition tells us what's really happening. Despite what our physical eyes or physical ears are observing, that inner knowing overrules those physical senses and tells us what's actually happening. After enough validation of this, any smart person would hopefully defer to intuition.
When my son was 13 he was ill with what started like the flu. When he didn't recover I took him to the doctor. We repeated this every few days as he was not getting better and I knew the doctors were missing something, but I didn't know what.
A hunch (intuition) told me to call the school nurse. I had never called the nurse at my kid's school before. She said "you know, there is a case of whooping cough at our school. It's probably not what your son has, I checked his immunization records before calling you back, and I see he was immunized for Pertussis."
Upon hearing that word, my gut said "that's it".
I spoke with his doctor & told her what the nurse said. She dismissed it. I was upset and angry and considered going to another doctor, but up until this experience, we'd received great medical care at this pediatrician's office. I decided to try one more thing. I got another 'hunch' which was to call our local County Health Department. The thought literally popped into my head (intuition) as I struggled with what to do to help my son. The lady I spoke with advised that we go back to the doctor and insist on a specific blood test. I did that & the doctor argued with me that he couldn't possibly have Pertussis, but I insisted on the test.
Days later when the test came back, it confirmed he had Pertussis/Whooping Cough. He finally got on the right medicine, but his lungs had been damaged. Listen to your wisdom, your inner voice.
When we trust our intuition, it becomes our best, closest and most loyal friend. We have free choice and can elect to follow our soul's guidance, or not. After we experience enough times choosing not to listen and we think back later to "what if I had listened? How would the outcome have been different. What if I had trusted myself instead of what someone was telling me"? It's pretty clear that 100% of the time our intuition is going to be straight with us, intuition does not lie.
Ever been driving at steady speed and your inner voice tells you to slow down. You do & the car directly in front of you slams on the breaks to avoid hitting a dog. You didn't see the dog, you had no external reason to slow down, but you listened to your intuition. It was right & gave you more valid information than your physical eyes.
In my life and in most peoples, we have hundreds if not thousands of experiences like this that validate and support the fact that our inner voice/intuition is the single best source of information. It is more accurate than our eyes, ears, and other "earth suit" experiences.
In matters of love it can get confusing. If you try to remove the emotion and ego from the situation, even for a brief moment, you can quiet your mind and settle yourself and just listen. In the quiet, your intuition, your soul - will tell you the truth. Sometimes it will be what your mind wants to hear and sometimes it will not, but it's always accurate.
Intuition is your soul's direct line of communication to your conscious mind. In matters of love or any other life situation your soul will guide you truthfully.
