Take Five: Five Tips to Track Down your Canine Soul Mate
There is a right and a wrong way to pick a pooch. The process is a little like dating. The few who find fulfillment in love are those who use their hearts and their heads. There is a special kind of nirvana when a person connects with their canine soul mate. They weren't fooling when they called dog "man's best friend." But such unions don't happen by mistake. A little careful preparation will go a long way. And to simplify your search, we have five suggestions. we've borrowed a little Hollywood lingo to make the tips more memorable.
TAKE ONE! That is, take stock: This is the time to look around you, before you even start thinking of bringing home Buddy. Let's consider your life from a dog's eye view. Who lives in your house? Are there members of the household under twelve or over seventy? What about other pets? Analyze the chemistry of your household for a moment. What words describe your family? Are you fast-paced and active, or low-key and friendly? In case you didn't know, getting a dog is a little like adopting a child. They have their own personalities. Think about what personality would jibe best with your bunch.
Next evaluate your living space. Dog owners exist as apartment dwellers or cattle ranchers. While the size of your pad shouldn't ultimately determine whether you're canine-compatible, it should at least be a consideration. Take Phoebe for example, a spoiled golden retriever who lives comfortably in a tiny Brooklyn brownstone. The arrangement works because her owner is an active walker and doesn't mind taking three or four spins around the dog park every day. And don't think that just you have a huge backyard means you're best fitted for a border collie. Even hyper-active dogs will mope around waiting for someone to play with. Whatever your accommodations, if you rent or belong to an HOA, you may need to check the pet policy before entertaining the notion of getting a dog. (Many renters allow dogs, but limit size or breed.) While looking at your house, consider your neighborhood. What is the noise level on your street, and how close are your neighbors? Your dog won't be living in a bubble. Social by nature, dogs react to the environment all about them.
Now that you've inspected your digs, how much time do you spend there? Is there someone home all the time? In this day and age that's highly unlikely. Look at work and school schedules, and don't forget holidays! How often do you vacate the property? Do you plan on taking the dog with you, or do you need to check out the local kennels?
Before you move on to take two, it would be prudent to anticipate future lifestyle changes. How likely are you to move? To get married? To break up? To have children? Dogs don't disappear when your life takes a turn. You don't want to end up leaving Poopsie at the pound just because you didn't think that far in advance. Dogs live ten to fifteen years or more. While it's impossible to know for sure, it's wise to consider where you think you might be.
TAKE TWO! Take advantage: There has never been a better time to learn about dogs! The world is at your fingertips. A thousand on-line quizzes can quickly narrow the field and recommend breeds that would fit your particular lifestyle and limitations. Your search just got a thousand times easier. Jot down the top ten, and do some research. First, look at pictures. What do you think? Is that a face you can love? Physical attraction, after all, does factor into finding a soul mate. Read as much as you can about the breeds you feel drawn to. Don't stop at the internet. The library and the pet store have an endless variety of books, magazines, and videos to assist you in your search. Even better, talk to other dog owners. Ask them what they like (and don't like) about their dogs. Go to a dog show, sit in on an obedience class, or call a local breeder. Take advantage of every resource you can to learn more about the breed.
TAKE THREE! Take interest: Get involved in the dog community. Make it a family affair. Volunteer at a local shelter. This gives the kids a chance to experience the responsibility of a dog. You may even consider fostering a dog looking for a home. Attend adoption days; ask the neighbor if you can play Frisbee with her whippet. All this interaction with dogs will allow you to see quirks that may not have been so apparent in your reading. Hidden expenses should also begin to be evident. What kind of equipment is needed to keep this kind of dog happy? Make sure to ask about health and grooming-related costs. Different breeds have different needs.
TAKE FOUR! Take your time: Now is not the time to rush into a relationship, but you are getting closer to a commitment. Start putting out feelers. If you plan to get a pup from a breeder, find out when the next litter is due. If you have your heart set on a particular breed, but want a mature dog, you may want to look into breed rescue groups. They have some great animals that already have some training, and are a fraction of the price. And don't forget that sometimes those mixed mutts lead the pack! Spend some quality time in the kennels. Many shelters allow a few days or a week adjustment period before tying the knot.
TAKE FIVE! Take cover: You think you've found the one? Hurray! Just remember that every relationship takes time and effort. Sign up for obedience classes and arm yourself with a little more patience than normal. Take it easy on yourself, knowing that if you've taken our advice, you'll be just fine!

Soothing Aromatherapy Body Massage
Although an aromatherapy course can train you to be a professional masseuse and possibly open your own massage therapy centre, anyone can pick up basic aromatherapy body massage and provide your loved one an enjoyable rub. On the other hand treating yourself to a professional aromatherapy rubdown is ideal to help you to de-stress as well as curing certain physical symptoms. You can get the endorsement from your physician if it is concerning health issues.
An aromatherapy body massage treatment is similar to a professional haircut. You will be asked to loosen up before the masseuse begins the rubdown. Certain clothing needs to be taken off to ensure an effective massage but the decision lies with you. If you feel better with clothes on, then so be it but the treatment will be somewhat milder as lotion will not be employed.
By and large relaxing music will be piped to you to enable you to unwind. Masseuse is typically of similar gender and no touching of sensitive body parts. Massage parlors are mostly hygienic and the bench that you lie down is padded and clean. In the event that you feel uncomfortable, then it is alright to take your leave.
An aromatherapy body massage can evoke a mixture of emotions; in particular for those who have their first treatment. The reason is that certain essential oils when burned can elicit deep seated memories. It can make you cry or laugh wildly and there is no need to feel awkward as the masseuse is well trained to handle every kind of situations. If it hurts, just notify the masseuse to stop or do it with a lighter stroke.
Some may fall into deep sleep and it is quite common. At the end of the massage, warm towel is used to allow the oil to permeate and a massage generally takes about twenty minutes.
If you are giving your loved one a massage, then make certain that your hands are warm. Frigid hands are not ideal for a soothing aromatherapy body massage so always remember to keep your hands warm as well as ensuring that the lotions and oils you are using are warm too. To keep oil warm, you can heat it under a dish with a tea light candle for several minutes.
Usually with loved ones, they will tell you if they found the body massage not comfy unlike when they are in a massage parlor as most are too respectful to even say it. Refrain from touching any wounds but minor cuts are alright. If your loved ones benefit from it, give a soothing aromatherapy body massage to them now.

Five Super Reasons to Train Your Beauty Clinic, Spa Team
Have you ever considered the value of training employees in the art of giving GREAT service?
The biggest complaint I hear from disgruntled clinic/spa owners is that just after providing comprehensive service and ongoing technical training to team members, they up and leave taking all that knowledge with them for the benefit of the next place they work! Unfortunately, there are too many owners with this mindset of scarcity around training.
Looking at the issue, we first must acknowledge that this could be a problem, yes, training someone to perform at their best for your business and having them up and leave can be soul destroying if you are looking at it from a victim perspective. Training is not the only answer to a successful business; however it is a very important cog in the wheel. It should be included as part of what you offer as a 'balanced team focused' business, and in today's clinic world we should very definitely be a people (team) focused business. It was Mary Kay Ash that said "People are definitely a company's greatest asset. It doesn't make any difference whether the product is cars or cosmetics. A company is only as good as the people it keeps."
So here are five super reasons to offer regular training to your team:
1 Productivity: 'is a measure relating a quantity or quality of output to the inputs required to produce it'. Productivity training should help the team work more effectively thus helping the clinic to achieve its long term goals.
2 Culture: 'is a shared, learned, symbolic system of values, beliefs and attitudes that shapes and influences perception and behaviour'. Training helps develop a culture of learning within the clinic, one of my favourite quotes is 'knowledge breeds confidence and confidence creates sales'.
3 Quality: 'Quality is a measure of excellence; quality defines desirable characteristics of a product, a process, or a service'. The team will value the added quality they can give to their clients, and clients will love the added quality they receive from well trained, well informed team members.
4 Image: 'the general impression that something (a person or organization or product) presents to the public'. Ongoing Training and Development helps in creating a better more professional clinic (and industry) image.
5 Profitability: 'the ability of a firm to generate net income on a consistent basis.' Training leads to improved profitability and more positive healthy attitudes towards the relationship between educating clients and profitability for the clinic.
Of course there are many additional benefits of team training including the development of leadership skills, higher motivation, loyalty (yes it does happen) and better, healthier attitudes amongst your team.
Look to your suppliers for specific product training and most of these organisations have some great ideas on the art of selling, some even have programs to help you with this. Consider looking at what other organisations are out there for sales training, the chamber of commerce is a good resource for this, also look at companies specialising in service training programs, and lastly don't discount industry specific experts as sources of inspiration, these people are generally experienced in the Beauty Industry and are more than willing to share their knowledge with you and your team.
Raising the knowledge of you and your team regarding service is a step in the direction of raising the knowledge of the industry as a whole. The last few years of technology has somewhat 'dehumanised' the buying experience of your clients and your team (particularly younger members) have rarely been on the receiving end of great service, thus have not experienced the warm feelings that great service can bring. The clinics that recognise the value of pleasing the client and embrace this into the future will be the ones to reap the rewards that great service can bring.
Just a quick note on technical training, think about this; better educated therapists means better educated clients, and clients these days that are better educated are more inclined to spend their money knowing exactly what they are spending it on.
Let's face it, with the availability of the internet with its plethora of beauty advice and knowledge, you better be up with the play or your clients could end up being better educated than you!
Oh and one last thought... Whilst understanding the real fear of clinic owners of when they train their team in giving GREAT service they then leave, Please Consider the implication to your Clients and business of NOT training them and they stay!

Why Do We Own Dogs?
I like to think that it is for the companionship, mainly because I try to keep in my mind, that all people have a good soul. After all, humans are a nurturing species that instinctively have a burning need to care for all that is weak and vulnerable. We boast about how we are the more intelligent species, the most rational. Yes, I think for the majority of dog owners out there, it is the thought that this one creature will be waiting happily for you, even if you did something horrible a few hours ago. This unknowingly loving creature will always look to you and wag that whip like tail at just the sight of you. It doesn't matter if you scolded them that morning for leaving you a present on the floor; they forgive you and are blissfully happy that you are back home. They hold no grudges for your outburst of anger that they redecorated your kitchen with leftovers and tin foil. They still show you affection even if you push them away because you had a bad day.
I sit back and look at my pack members and rescue dogs everyday. I wonder how they can be so forgiving after the lives they had. I mean seriously, if we as humans went through what they went through, we would most likely be sending our therapist's child through some Ivy League college. Just look at my Staffie, Axel. This amazing creature lived in a run for a good portion of his life, coming out occasionally to play with the volunteers at a rescue group, never really having a consistent owner, until now. The first time he came to me he was like a freight train of energy. He had been so pent up he literally could not sit still for more then 1.5 seconds. We joked because his leg muscles were so well defined, that he looked like a Staffie on steroids; but really the reason for it was incredibly sad. He would race back and forth in his little run, jump up and down like a pogo stick just to keep his mind busy. So I wonder, what would I be like if I was stuck in a run for 2 years with only an occasional outing for play with another human? Would I be so quick to accept another human as a companion?
Axel's experience with people had been his daily caretakers that fed him and let him into his outdoor pen. Even though he never had a constant human companion, he greets me everyday with a play bow and a body so full of happiness that he looks like he will explode out of his fur. How can he be this excited to see me? He did not grow up with humans loving him and caring for him like a furry child, he was not conditioned for this. But alas, he is a dog, a forgiving and loving creature we as humans take for granted everyday.
Then there is Tyson, a recently rescued staffie. When I was asked to take him on through a local bull breed advocacy group Love-a-Bull, I had my doubts that this magnificent animal would ever be able to bond with a human. He and his sister had been chained outside with no human interaction for 4 years with an occasional bowl of food tossed to them. The heroes at Love-a-Bull rescued him and brought him to me in hopes that we could help him become a better canine citizen. This is a dog that had no reason to even look at humans unless it was to protect his territory. He never knew what a gentle touch felt like; he never experienced the soft praise a caring human could speak to reward him for just being there. No, his life was spent in the backyard, attached to a truck chain, as an object of social status. His life was selfishly used as a trophy for humans, looking big and bad so a human could brag his dog was tougher than the other neighborhood dogs. Why would this dog trust any human? How can I expect him to not stiffen up when I try to pet him, he never felt a loving touch before. How can I be surprised that he cannot give me accepting eye contact for my soft praise, has he ever had a human just lovingly talk to him? Why should he care if he pleases any human or me? Honestly, no human ever gave a crap about him, why should he even give me the time of day.
With all this in my mind, I spent the first couple of days secretly wondering how I could tell the rescue group that for the first time in my career, I have failed. I was certain I would never be able to show this dog that not all humans were harsh, greedy creatures looking to use him as a substitute for their own lacking strengths. Would I believe that? Would you? It had taken four years for any human to step up and even care enough to take the weight of that chain off his neck. It took four years for him to feel what it was to run around and actually play with his sister. I would be foolish to think I can change him in a short time, if I could at all.
Then came day three of being in my care. I approached his kennel (more of a safe built for dogs, being he has never been crated before) and asked him to wait while I put his collar on. This for the past couple of days was a very long process of waiting longer than your average human has the patience to wait. He immediately sat down and waited patiently for me to place the collar on him. As shocked as I was and as badly as I had wanted to do a joyful little dance right there, I contained myself and kept my calm demeanor. As I slipped the collar on, he leaned forward and put his enormous muzzle in my face. Now this is a strange situation I placed myself in, I never leave myself unprotected. I make it a point to constantly preach to my daughter to never place yourself in a dangerous or vulnerable position when working with our rehab cases. Yet here I am, literally face to face with a dog that has no reason to not bite the person that has been controlling him for the last couple of days. But this morning, I was the student.
With his nose at my chin, he was slowly taking in short little sniffs. I was hoping I didn't smell like breakfast. Then he very gently gave me a little kiss to the chin. In my mind I took it as a thank you. I thanked him back softly and gave him a big facial massage. He leaned into it with such force that I was nearly taken off balance. This literally brought tears to my eyes. The fact that this poorly treated dog that lived as confined as he had, could show affection to a human in such a short time absolutely amazed me. Seventy-two hours of having shelter, food, and kindness made four years of neglect truly a thing of the past.
Yes, that must be it. We love to have a dog because they are so forgiving and full of love.

Can You Stay the Course?
One of my best friends Herbie Kuhn completed the Ottawa 1/2 marathon on the weekend. He finished strong setting a personal best of 1:50:38. Throughout the course of his training, Herbie had many legitimate reasons why he could have quit. To train for this event he had to sacrifice a lot of time away from his family; he was often away at various speaking engagements; many morning were extremely cold and blustery; he was often physically exhausted from a busy work schedule and unsettled sleep patterns. Yet despite all of the challenges he persevered.
Imagine what your life would be like if you were able to stay the course and finish what you start. Imagine how you would feel if you released the excess weight and never put it back on again. Like my brother Herbie, I encourage you to persevere regardless of the trials and set-backs. Know that it will take discipline and a change in lifestyle. No-one really wants to get out of their comfort zone but it is necessary in order to be successful at anything.
In the Bible there's a story of a rich young ruler who walked away from Jesus with his head down in despair because he was not willing to do what it took to follow Christ. He did not want to give up his current lifestyle (Matt. 19:21-22) Are you willing to change your lifestyle in order to accomplish your goals? At times you may have to sacrifice time with your loved ones, doing things that other 'normal' people do or doing things that you enjoy. But know that it is only for a season and you will reap a major harvest if you stay the course.
Every time that you start something and never finish, you get more and more comfortable with quitting-sadly, it can become very familiar after a while. Conversely, every time we see a task through to the end, it strengthens your resolve, our discipline, your sense of accomplishment and your faith. Every success we experience prepares us for even higher levels of success. This is the level that we should strive to live at daily.

YOGA For Mental Health, Mind and Body
Yoga is a system of mental and physical exercises which were originally developed in India over thousands of years.
Yoga comes in many forms specifically designed to suit different types of people. As a result, some forms of yoga have gained significant popularity outside India, particularly in the West during the past century.
Today there are many different styles with many different goals. Yoga is not a religion. It doesn't require that you fast or abstain.
The Basics.
Yoga is basically the practice of stretching for one hour. Stretching should only take five minutes, other peoples would rather spend the extra fifty- five minutes playing in an actual sport or spending time with their families and friends. Yoga is not just physical fitness training. It is an authentic holistic tradition inclusive of contemplation and meditation. Yoga injuries are unheard of. The meditation techniques are a comprehensive combination of concentration, sublimation and ideation.
Reduce Stress and Anxiety.
Yoga is an effective method to reduce stress and anxiety. See how to get started. Yoga is a union of the organ systems in the body with the consciousness in the mind. Philosophically, yoga produces a union of body, mind, and energy (or soul or spirit) to bring about a state of equanimity (calmness). Yoga is most effective in dealing with psychosomatic problems. If practiced diligently on a long-term basis it can have a significant effect on a person's health both on a preventive basis and to control and cure existing problems.
Benefits of Yoga.
Yoga has tons of benefits. It can improve flexibility, strength, balance, and stamina. Yoga is all about breathing correctly about integrating that breath into your being. Conscious Yoga doesn't call for you to force or strain your never or sinew. Yoga Slackers are a group of yoga practitioners who practice their asanas not on a mat, but suspended on a piece of 1" flat, stretchy tubular webbing (like rock climbers use) tensioned between two anchor points above the ground.
A Great help for Expectant Mother.
Yoga is an excellent way to "train" for the marathon of labor and motherhood. Practicing Yoga in pregnancy helps to strengthen and stretch muscles, release tension and maintain good posture. Yoga is more than just a form of exercise, but part of a well-rounded philosophy that dates back over 5,000 years. The practice of Yoga can help you to live a healthy, integrated life. Yoga can help liberate your true nature. Please don't use yoga to suppress it.
Is Yoga a Religion?
Yoga is not a religion, it fits with any lifestyle, and in fact yoga is one of the most valuable tools you can learn! It will improve your lifestyle! Yoga is not a competitive sport. Yoga, including postures, breathing exercises and meditation is the science of positive mental health. Practice Yoga regularly and it will strip away the obstacles that separate you from your source. Yoga practice can be invaluable in this process, as it can alleviate tension from and clear energy blocks in the body and mind. So speak to a teacher about developing a practice to suit your needs.
Hands on Process.
Yoga teaching is, to a large degree, a hands-on process. A gentle guiding touch can definitely help you fine-tune your practice. Yoga is a way of life, an art of righteous living or an integrated system for the benefit of the body, mind and inner spirit. This art originated, was perfected and practiced in India thousands of years ago. Yoga, Meditation, and other stress reducing wellness practices are critically important in today's world. By making these healing arts easily accessible, people will attain greater health, balance, and harmony in their lives.
Yoga for Kids.
Yoga for kids is an excellent way for a child to exercise and has many other benefits for a child's health. Not every type of yoga can be used as yoga for children though. Yoga is an ancient science of personal self -development that has evolved into an integrated lifestyle program. The practice of Hatha Yoga will release the physical tensions and stress so that you feel energized calm and peaceful.

Hip Hop Legends - LL Cool J
Originally named James Todd Smith, the American hip hops star and actor LL Cool J has been one of the longest running hip-hop stars of all time. He is known mainly for his major hip-hop ballads and singles that have been prominently romantic in nature.
His stage name is Ladies Love Cool James or LL Cool J. He has parlayed his successful music career into a major movie career and has been featured on over a dozen records. He currently resides in Manhasset, New York and is married with children.
LL Cool J started his career at the age of 16, after he was given a mixing table. He started producing and creating demo tapes and would send them to all major record labels, but nothing happened for a short amount of time. He would gain his stage name and Def Jam Recordings would come calling. He made the most of his opportunity and released his first single "I Need a Beat" which went on to sell over 100,000 copies.
With that major success he received a distribution and recording deal with Def Jam and Columbia in 1985 and upon doing so dropped out of high school and recorded his very successful debut record. The first record "Radio" was a smash hit, and it was the first time a rapper used conventional song structures to create songs. Critics would call it "pop rap" and with the success of several hit singles, the album would quickly sell platinum (1.5 million in sales).
The hip-hop train kept rolling and LL Cool J soon released his second record and it was another huge success. He continued to rap and record in a "pop" style, which garnered a lot of crossover success, and created a massive fan following. The album sold over 2.3 million copies and was later named one of the top 100 hip hop records of all time by Source Magazine. One of the largest hit songs on the record was "I Need Love" which went on to win a Soul Train Music Award, and was later parodied by others. The song was also ranked as the #13 best hip-hop song by VH1.
It is interesting to note that LL Cool J stayed with one record company throughout his 13-album career. He worked with Def Jam throughout his career and upon releasing his last record with the company; "Exit 13" had become a legend in Hip Hop. "Exit 13" was produced by 50 Cent and after being delayed for 2 years, and without 50 Cent as producer, the record came out in 2008. The album peaked at #9 on the Billboard Charts, and has been the last major record for the rapper.
LL Cool J continues to act in film, produce music, and is an icon in hip-hop. With each record he has made several big time hits, and no matter who you ask, he is still a legend.

How to Start Making Plenty of Money With Your Music in Six Months
Let's get straight to the point. The only way to make money with anything is supply and demand. If they're equal you'll make decent cash. If there's more demand you'd need more supply and vice versa. Okay, many of you would like a record deal. That's very understandable, but how many of you would like to have a record deal just for the money? Fame you could care less about? Well, you wouldn't need a record deal then. This is where the supply and demand takes place though. Think about it like this, supply would be the deals and the artists would be the ones demanding them. Of course, deals aren't that easy to obtain but it's possible as long as you know what you're doing or what you need to be doing.
Here's where you come in. Instead of chasing a deal for money, make money from those who are chasing the same thing as you! Of all the things needed to get a deal, great songs is the perfect way to help and make you a lot of money while helping them. Many people want deals but many lack great material. Basically, you have the demand now supply it. Now you'll need amazing songs in order to have people really spending big bucks to get them. How do you achieve this? Not music theory or composition. Those will help but there's one thing you'll need to really prosper...a trained musical ear. Seriously! You can start writing amazing songs without even knowing how to sight read. You can base it off of what sounds good. From there you could learn all the theory you'd need but the fact is, great songs are great songs whether you can read music or not. Do some research and you'll find out the many of the most successful artists never took a music class let alone learned music notation. If it sounds good it sounds good. From there lyrics and song structure will be easy. Just listen to some great song writers in all genres to figure out what's the average structure per genre. Those songs will make you plenty of money because many people don't have trained ears. You can write a song in your head without an instrument being within a mile with a trained music ear. Once you train that ear and get the songwriting to that same level, you'll never be broke again.
So how exactly do you make that cash in 6 months? Spend two months working on your song writing. While doing that train you ear. There is plenty of information on it if you just Google" music ear training." In my opinion though, I'd use software. Its faster to learn and it will track your progress for you. One of the best can be reached by visiting the link below this article. Okay, month three and four should be used to find those people looking for the songs. Use the internet and network where there is anything musical related. Be sure to have some songs prepared for them too. If you cant sing, find someone who can and create a demo with four of your best songs on it. The last two months is where you work pays off. This is when you negotiate fees and start counting that money! What are you waiting for?!? Whether you visit the link below or spend hours on the internet I don't care how you do it but TRAIN YOUR EAR! You won't regret it. Master that songwriting and in six months, you may be counting your cash for another six months!

Just Another Election Or a Fight For the Soul of a Nation
Jesus said "For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind." (Jn 9:41)
After forty years as a believer I have seen these words tested and proved countless times. Never more than today have I seen so many people who can't seem to see even when the facts or the proof is directly in front of them. Wholesale blindness is more than a condition in the last days it is a prophetic promise and it is what precipitates the rise of all the last days' characters like the antichrist, the false prophet and the host of participants who are engaged in a global deception that ends in Armageddon.
We are fast approaching the hour of decision in the US even as the split between the far left and common conservatism takes center stage. The high priests of economics have joined forces with Hollywood celeb's and perennial malcontents' to blame it all on the out going administration, the GOP or conservatism in general.
Is it time for America to cast down the free market system, lean on government for sustenance and entitlement in a socialistic big brother takes care of everything kind of system? The answer to that has to do with the timing and near fulfillment of Biblical prophecy.
In September of 1939 Adolph Hitler pulled the world into the Second World War with the invasion of Poland. In 2009 America will have a new president and Europe will be only months away from ratifying the Lisbon Treaty which will result in the election of a president and vice president with powers much like those of our own executive branch. That's an even seventy years.
Biblical numerology is nothing that should be used exclusively to guide anyone but it reveals certain patterns and shows something about the way God does things. Those patterns have all been time tested and are worthy of note.
Seventy members of Jacobs's family traveled to Egypt during the famine and became a nation after a 400 year period. Seventy elders were chosen to help Moses guide the newly formed Hebrew nation that roamed the wilderness. The very first evangelists ever sent out to preach the gospel were sent in two man groups and totaled seventy in all.
The most interesting occurrence of the number seventy is perhaps the most precise prophecy in scripture. "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy." Daniel 9:24.
The week of years was common to the ancient Hebrews. In the case of Daniel 9:24 the seventy weeks of years was a promise that all prophecy would be fulfilled at the finish of those years. All but seven years or the last week of that prophecy has already passed.
Of the 490 years promised to fulfill all prophecy the first 483 were fulfilled between the rebuilding of the city and the wall of Jerusalem under the auspices of Persian King Artaxerxes and went to the time of Christ's crucifixion, a period of exactly 483 years.
The time between the 483 years and the remaining seven years is called the 'parenthetical' age or the 'church' age. Some theologians call it the 'mystery' age because it wasn't seen by any of the ancient prophets. It is that period between the first and second coming of Christ. What is it for? This is the time of gathering out a people who will live forever with the redeemer, they are called by faith out of an unbelieving world, and they are the wheat among the tares.
The remaining seven years are to be fulfilled when Israel is a nation again; the antichrist will rise to power in the same general geographical area as the old Roman Empire (the EU) and near to the time when the Jews are once again making sacrificial offerings in a rebuilt temple. He will be aided by the false prophet who it seems rules over an entirely different nation, which is more than likely going to be America. With the exception of the rebuilt temple even a novice could recognize that this is our world today.
Those remaining seven years are often referred to as "The Great Tribulation" and will be the most troubled time in the history of our world. According to Christ no one would be left living if God did not shorten those days. (Mt 24:22) How does he shorten those days, he shows up in person and puts an end to the rule of man. Once again the return of Christ is not the end of the world; rather it is only the end of the world as we now know it.
The only significance that the last seventy years of American history may have is that it falls into a common period of decline. When the golden age of Israel ended and the times of the Gentiles began the Israelites had been held captive to the Babylonian Empire and the Persian Empire for a period of seventy years as the Prophet Jeremiah said they would be. It took a full seventy years to correct or more succinctly to 'humble' Israel and bring them back to a useful state in the scheme of things.
For America it seems to be in reverse. America was at the peak of its moral strength and power at about the start of the Second World War. It was a revered nation and an example for the entire world. It has steadily declined in moral strength even while becoming a military power.
Secularist will never understand that in God's economy our moral strength is our only strength. The power of our military has no weight at all in God's view of us as a nation. The term "superpower" is almost laughable and to many in Europe and the rest of the world we are fast becoming a "supersleaze." This is not mockery against America it is only as Walter Cronkite used to say "the way it is."
Although Christ strictly warned that no man would know the exact day or the hour of his return he also warned that we would see when summer was nigh by the combining of all the signs in a single generation of time. (Mt 24:32) It is interesting that he chose the summer season to describe the events of the last days. The events of the last day's heat to a fever pitch and for a world bent on the latest 'hot' thing it will be far more searing than anyone has bargained for.
Over a forty year period I have been asked countless times about my own personal timetable or interpretation of the last day's events. I have never changed in all that time. Four decades ago I gave the same estimate I give today. I have always believed that most of the events of the last days would occur around the year 2000 with a 7 to 20 year buffer. As the days progress I see I am right on track but my sense of urgency has increased exponentially.
Because only a very few pieces of the puzzle yet remain to be fulfilled it is like a roaring train that no one can stop, even worse, not many see it coming!
In both my ministry and the mission statement on my website I have been committed to informing my readers about the prospective candidates for this nation's highest office. In the end it is up to Americans who they decide upon and no one can interfere with that, including me. I feel compelled to share my strongest feelings as a servant of the Lord which is a duty I could no more avoid than I could stop the incoming of the tide.
With Sen. John McCain and Sarah Palin I see a possible reprieve for the country; a sort of grace period in which things could change for the better. No, they are not America's saviors but they have never purported to be. What we have is an old soldier who has proven his loyalty to America in a way few of us will ever be asked to do. He isn't perfect but his intentions are clear and his experience has fully prepped him for the job. Sarah Palin is a model American woman that we can be proud of and her sensibilities and her devotion to America are beyond question.
I talked with a political volunteer who worked in Bill Clinton's campaign who said that when he met Bill he was struck by his attractive personality. He said "it was impossible not to like him." I have never met Barack Obama and I know of no one who has personally met him but I would imagine that he is also a very personable and likable person. Sadly in my opinion that is where it ends. I don't think he has much to offer the nation. In fact I believe that he would do irreparable harm to America through his liberal policies and his vision for the country.
As a life long student of eschatology (second coming doctrine) and a man called to broadcast God's prophetic warnings I can also say no one in modern times has created more trepidation in me than Sen. Obama.
Just as I take seriously Christ's warning not to name dates and times about the second coming, I am also cautious about naming who may or may not be one of the characters that emerge in the last days. I have no specific revelation at this moment but I can't fight off the inclination to believe that if their was a person alive today that looks more like the false prophet spoken of in the Bible; it is Barack Obama.
His past associations, the lies that are emerging and his inexperience are all clues; but the worst is his devotion to all that is liberal and in violent opposition to the founding principles of this country.
These doubts are further amplified by the timing of all the other second coming prophecies now being fulfilled in this generation. It is time for the rise of the antichrist. Shortly after Europe fully forms he will be revealed. The false prophet who aides him must also either be in power or on the rise.
Watching the candidates is only a small part of the ministry of a seer. He or she must also watch the nation. What are Americans feeling, saying and doing with all they have and with all they are? Observation is one of the hallmarks of a prophet not just telling the future. A prophet who doesn't know what's going on in his own nation doesn't deserve to speak to that nation.
The truth is it takes no prophet to see the steady decline America has been in for decades now; it only takes a prophet to tell the outcome of it all. While many Americans are in a panic about the economy the worst part may be slipping past their notice. A 'change' in the White House will have little effect if there is no change in the general citizenry. It is up to us more than we know!
While we ponder the floundering stock market, mortgage woes and financial losses consider this. If the bottom fell out of everything tomorrow you may have lost very little. Christ said it this way, "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Mt 16:26) One soul is loss enough; America is in a fight for the very soul of a nation.

The Future of America - A Prophecy
Our country is at a crossroads. Many are hoping that we will return to the "old days" but the old days never happen; the old days are never relived. It always changes.
What our future holds will be quite different from just about anything that we can envision, and anyone counting on things to get "back to normal" will be sorely disillusioned.
Big shifts already are occurring all over the world. Can you see them? We have a tendency to ignore things that are uncomfortable, hoping that they will somehow go away - until they smack us aside the head and we wonder why we never saw the train wreck coming.
All customary religious organizations are registering a loss of interest according to the Pew Report. Borders are becoming impossible to control with illegal immigrants flooding all industrialized countries. There is a huge shift in economic wealth taking place in the world. Health care is becoming too expensive for almost anyone... and the list goes on. These things will not revert to what they were. These things will all evolve into something quite different from what we expect.
Economic, political, religious, and basic human consciousness is all shifting right under our noses. Until someone points it out to us, however, we can't see it. It has always been this way; seldom has there been a single-line advance in consciousness in the world. We seem to go one step forward and one step backward.
The period of 600 BC to 500 AD was a time of incredible spiritual advancement; Plato, Aristotle, The Buddha, Christ, and many others. This was unfortunately followed by the Middle Ages which dates from the fall of the Roman empire until the 1700s; a period of darkness and torture of body and soul as the enlightenment of the previous period became institutionalized, religiousized, and organized by unenlightened people. This led to competition, hatred, mass murder and wars. The 18th century ushered in the "Age of Enlightenment" where all the technological advances in human society today had its roots.
And now we are at the threshold of a new age. What will it be?
Part of our problems were that we hang on to that which we are accustomed to far too long, way past the point of material or psychological returns. Instead of grasping the moment, we live in our pasts and subsequently perish in them as well. We don't seem to have that clear vision that acts intuitively and straightforwardly, and cuts through all the old and dead emotion and memory.
Things will never be as they were, meaning not just a few years ago before the recession or during the 70's, or the turn of the century, but they will not be like anything ever in the history of the world.
(Anyone who tends toward queasiness should stop reading here, because what follows may destroy all of your conclusions and ideals!)
Okay, for the few of you who may be still reading, here is what I envision for the future of America:
After a period of intense conflict amongst ourselves (picture it as an American "Middle Ages" where unenlightened leaders attempt to control things and keep them unchanged), we will finally coalesce into an adoption of change instead of warring with inevitable change.
This will be the turning point of many things, such as governing in a manner where we no longer attempt to control but instead apply leverage and use an adversary's momentum to our advantage. The Jiu Jitsu of governing so to speak.
If we can't control our borders, we open them and use the additional manpower to create the natural industry that is destined to take us into the future, agriculture; the only industry that we have a leg-up on; we stop trying to compete where we cannot compete in the world and instead use that innate agricultural power. Our vast fields and near perfect climate ensure that we will eventually become the breadbasket of the world, and it will be done mostly by manual labor.
The technological world that we now find ourselves in will eventually peter out. All the information out there... for what purpose? Our values will change to the point that non essential information will become nothing more than a burden, a pox on our minds that are finally becoming clear and content.
The value of material things will be relegated to necessities, and as such there will be no shortages. Nonsensical industries that produce goods and services which now seem to be necessities but are merely frivolous articles to salve and entertain tortured minds will fade away, replaced by goods and services that enhance the truly spiritual human experience.
Religion as we know it today will be seen for what it is; a number of different, contentious beliefs based on nothing but speculation which causes stress and conflict amongst each other. This will be replaced by a universal quest for experiential truth within oneself without doctrine, tired principles, or authority to get in the way. This will be the beginning of true spiritual freedom for the individual.
As we revert to an agricultural society, health care will change as families stay together and take care of each other with grandma and grandpa watching the kids while mom and dad work. No nursing homes at $6,000 a month.
With the new consciousness that derives from our personal, internal experiences of truth, the fear of death and becoming impoverished, which is the basis of conflict in the world today, will subside, and medical care will become less technological and more humane as we accept the fact that medicines and doctors never save lives, only continue them for a short time. Our truth will tell us that all lives pass as quickly as a flash of lightening, regardless of what we do, and therefore our emphasis will change from accumulation of material goods to the perfection of humanity.
In other words, we will get to the point of no medical emergencies, because death will not have the depressing connotation and importance that it currently enjoys.
Our advanced consciousnesses will enable us to see clearly that death is never an ending, just a trip through the swinging doors.

Bona Fide "Soul Lounge" Smooth Jazz Music CD Review
Bona Fide, very talented Smooth Jazz artist has released his latest album titled Soul Lounge and Wow! It's really a good one.
It's a rare day indeed that I get a CD from an artist that I can truthfully say does not have a bad track in the bunch. I'm more than happy to announce that's exactly what I must say about this one. There simply isn't a bad one in the bunch. No fillers here at all.
One of the refreshingly nice things about this CD is the way all of the participating artists seem to be really enjoying themselves. Combine that with the overall presentation and you've got one of Bona Fide's most impressive releases ever.
Listen to Soul Lounge and I believe you'll find there's not much to dis-like about it. The songs are inspired, and the production is simply outstanding. If you're even mildly into Smooth Jazz music you'll enjoy this album.
My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 6, The Journey. What a nice track!

Getting Off The "Crazy Train" Roller Coaster Ride Of Relationships - Part I
Getting off the "Crazy Train" roller coaster ride of relationships--Part I
By Michelle Casto, Ph. D Candidate
Do you love amusement rides? When I was a girl growing up I loved roller coasters, the faster, more intense, the crazier the better. What a rush! What a thrill. I remember on my favorite, The Beast---I would get off and run to get back in line to do it all again. Pure adrenaline addiction. It was a teenage love affair between beauty and "the beast." That was great when I was thirteen.
I mean, I really loved riding The Beast, but wouldn't want to do it every day for the rest of my life!
As an adult, I still have a need for excitement and thrills, so what's a girl to do? What everyone does for so-called excitement: romantic relationships. By far, the wildest ride out there in Romantic Love Land is the infamous Crazy Train---where you will experience the thrill of excitement, anticipation, and expectation followed by the fall, where your stomach drops out, then you are racing through the darkness of the confusion tunnel, ending with the abrupt finish--all the while squealing with delight and fear.
A popular self-help definition of insanity is doing the same thing in the same way over and over expecting different results. Wow, is this ever true in many romantic relationships. We want love so badly that we are willing to ride a relationship out until it literally makes us sick. When we get used to the ups and downs of bad behavior and start to believe that is a normal way to have a relationship, we get a little crazy.
Modern love serves to help us grow and evolve---to raise our awareness/consciousness. If you feel stuck in a rut and can't seem to move forward, or cannot feel peace and contentment---get off the ride and take a look around. Chances are you got on the crazy train coaster instead of the smooth and peaceful looking one you saw in the brochure. This emotional roller coaster has lots of highs and lows, twists and turns, but yet just keeps running the same course again and again, never really evolving. You know you are in one if you have the reasons for fights and the scripts that go with them burned in your brain.
In other words, you are stuck on a ride you desperately want to change.
Beware! There is no changing it, only exiting from it.
The Drama
If you are stuck on a track that goes nowhere, you not growing. When you are not growing, your heart is not open and your spirit starts to shut down. In this emotional state you tend to vacillate from mania to numbness. Exiting is the only remedy for the "sickness" associated with this ride. You have probably tried many time-out talks that included "calls to action" where promises were made but never kept. That is because there is just enough good stuff to keep you around, mixed in with fear and intimidation. On the "crazy train," there will be many moments of frustration, anxiety, tears and fears. In other words--- Drama. Why do you do the drama? Because you think it is amusing.
Drama is a key component of this kind of relationship. You will find passion here, in many ways that are important, like good sexual chemistry, etc. But there is another even more powerful passion at work. The kind that makes you "go crazy," get defensive, throw tantrums, sulk and shut down. This is not the good kind of passion.
This kind of passion is left over childhood anger or rage from when we didn't get our needs met. To attempt to resolve this ache in our hearts, we hook up with a partner and try like hell to get them met through that other person. What a trap---they are often perfectly wired to hit our hottest buttons.
Relationships teach us about ourselves. So this is good, because at any moment during the ride, you can wake up and make a different choice on how you want to respond. On this ride, you are in total control of how fast, slow, gut wrenching, heart pounding, and scary you will let it become. There will come a day when you will finally have had enough of the self-inflicted craziness. This day is your defining moment.
The Defining Moment
A defining moment for me came when I was journaling about my first husband. I found in the back of my journal a letter that was addressed to him that was four years old. In the letter, I was expressing the same concerns and requests that I was in the present. Ironically enough, the letter's actual date was October 12, 2000. Our wedding was October 12, 2002. That means before I even got married, I knew the ride I was in for, but still I made the commitment. Now you are probably saying "she should have seen it coming--" he wasn't likely to change."
Who really knows? All I can say is I guess I hadn't gotten the lesson yet, and needed to keep riding, and marriage was the only way I was really going to experience what I needed to experience. I'm sure I also had a romantic illusion that it would improve.
Wrong. The first year of marriage was awful---all the things in that letter were there magnified by ten! I could barely recognize this man. I was in shock and disbelief for the entire first year and kept thinking "make it stop." Finally after riding along for another year, (and couple's counseling) I had that moment when I was like what am I doing? I deserve more. This is not amusing and I need to get off this roller coaster ride.
Maybe you don't even like roller coasters, but have been riding because your partner liked them. You do have a right to your own feelings and to say this ride is not for me. In fact, that is the bravest thing you can do. But if you do find yourself on the crazy train, realize that you have the power to make it stop.
Just exit the relationship. And do not get back in line for another ride!
In relationships, you always have 4 choices: stay put, move forward, go backward, or exit. If you want out, get out. Get clear on what you want next and what you have learned. And then make the decision to leave. Stick to it. Get extra support from friends and family. Do not allow him or her to talk you back into staying. It is just a ploy--after all, this is their favorite ride, look at all the cheap thrills they get at your expense! This ride makes them feel good. But if you don't feel good and enjoy the ride, it's high time to go.
In part II, find out how to get off the ride for good....

How to Beat Loneliness
You know the feeling; a forlornness, a crushing despondency filled with despair and hopelessness; a desperate reaching out for anyone who might hear your apprehensive, silent cries of anguish. You will do most anything to relieve the terrible feelings of dejection, and begin looking for someone to talk to, or something to do; anything to get your mind off this claustrophobic emptiness.
With any luck, you will find comfort in someone new, or a new activity that keeps your mind busy and engaged so that the loneliness won't creep back in. But what if that new friend or that new situation disappeared suddenly? Then what? What would happen is that the loneliness would raise its ugly head again, as if it were a latent disease lurking in your mind, waiting to destroy you at the first opportunity
And you know it's there. That's what's so frightening. No matter what you do, you know it's there, waiting -- at the end of the road. And no matter how long that road is, no road is long enough. You may be married fifty years, but at the end, there could be crushing loneliness.
This is a terrible thing to have over your head, this loneliness. If there were only a cure so that regardless of what happened, you would never be lonely again. That would be a terrific thing, because then most of our underlying fears would be gone, and we would have a chance to really live life for a change.
If you decided to look into this and really attack loneliness, could you surprise yourself and defeat it? I say that you can, and it is relatively easy. All you have to do is get to know loneliness rather than run from it.
You can begin by watching your thoughts, because without thoughts there can be no loneliness.
Since we have been thinking non-stop since birth, watching thoughts so that we can get to know our loneliness instead of running from it like a coward can be a little tricky to begin with. There are so many thoughts and they are so fast, it's like trying to catch a train that's going a hundred miles an hour down the tracks. We must find a way to slow the train down.
The easiest way to slow the train down is to keep one BIG thought in mind, and then the millions of other little thoughts can't surface. The best BIG thought to keep in mind is the one that is with you at all times; which is simply your breathing. When you direct your mind to your breathing, that's a thought! "I'm watching my breathing." Then, all the little (or big thoughts such as, "I'm so lonely,") can't get in.
The interesting thing about this simple substitution of one BIG thought for all the little thoughts is that the underlying fear that you have; knowing that loneliness could arise, or all the hundreds of other little fears you have been harboring -- they all go away for awhile. And when they go away for awhile, the mind finds some breathing space, and you never know what will come of that. Sometimes immensely creative things!
It's easy to begin practicing one BIG thought. Before you go to bed every night, sit on the floor, knees crossed, back straight, and watch your breathing at the solar plexus. The belly will subtly go in and out. Think, "I am watching my breath." And then just watch the belly go in and out without even thinking about it. If a stray thought comes into your mind that takes your attention off your belly going in and out, then as soon as you discover that you have been ambushed by a little thought, go back to the BIG thought, "I am watching my breathing."
Few accomplished meditators are ever lonely. They do not fear being alone at all, and this is what this practice can lead to. It can lead to more as well, such as complete total freedom from fear, and to, well . . . complete total freedom!
Try it for a few months and see for yourself.
