Find Your Destiny by Learning How to Discern God's Voice From All the Rest of the Voices You Hear

Did you know that God has a perfect plan for your life? He had it all planned out even before you were born, --and He specially designed and created you with the necessary talents and gifts to walk that plan out while you are here on earth.

The good news is that He didn't abandon us to figure it all out by ourselves. He also wants to keep in touch with you to guide you through the whole process. The Bible clearly states that we can hear God's voice and that we are led by the Holy Spirit who lives in us once we are born again by receiving Jesus as Lord in our life.

The problem is, that many times other voices interfere with what God has to tell us, and we have trouble discerning His direction from all the other options that we are presented with.

What really helps is to know where other voices can come from. Once we can distinguish the source, it will be easier to recognize if the direction came from God or not.

Man is essentially a spirit that has a soul and lives in a body.

The Spirit
The spirit is the real you. It will keep on existing eternally once your body dies. It is your spirit that is born again, connects to God and hears from Him. Your spirit will pick up the still small voice of the Holy Spirit and talk to your heart. It will lead you with peace.

The Body
Your body is like a space suit you live in to be able to survive on this planet. The Bible refers to it as a tent or an earthly dwelling place. This is where your appetites and carnal desires are seated.

Your body will always draw you away from the spiritual. It prefers sleeping instead of reading the Bible or going to church. It is like a pet we have to train correctly so that it doesn't interfere with our spiritual walk. The body is a great servant, but a bad master. When it comes to dominate our life, we are definitely in for trouble.

The Mind
Your soul is your mind. This is where you think logically and make decisions. It is also where your emotions are seated. Your mind will ultimately decide whether to follow the voice of your spirit or that of your flesh. It is influenced by your education, culture and traditions. Here is where the human reasoning is seated.

Your mind is not born again, that is why the Bible says we have to renew our mind by reading the Word of God. If it is not renewed, it will always challenge the will of God with logical human reasoning. That is why we should diligently read the Bible, because that way our mind will be tuned up with our spirit.

On the other hand, if we feed it with junk and bad news, our mind will always decide out of fear and worry.

Top 10 Way to Train Your Brain For Peak Performance

There are many people who have problems with remembering things such forgot where you put your keys? Can't remember telephone numbers? or forgot where you parked your car. So you're not alone really on this problem but there are good ways that you can use to improve your memory.

Here are 10 ways, which you can follow to keep your memory in shape, and also techniques that can actually help you to improve your memory's condition and performance.

1. Eat your brain food

What we eat every day, affects the performance and long-term condition of our memory. Surveys in recent decades, have shown that certain foods can contribute to the better functioning of the neural circuits of the brain that control memory. Fish and foods that contain a lot of omega oils nourish the brain, and this can help improve your memory. Include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet and avoid foods that are high in sugar.

2. Physical exercise

Physical exercise increases the flow of oxygen and nutrients in the blood. The benefits of exercise affect positively many body systems, and particularly our memory and other cognitive capabilities. It is enough to exercise for 20 minutes everyday in simple forms of exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming and dancing.

3. Play A Game

Play engages the prefrontal cortex, responsible for your highest-level cognitive functions - including self-knowledge, memory, mental imagery, and incentive and reward processing. Activities like bridge, chess, sudoku, role-playing games, and challenging crossword puzzles all provide rigorous neural workouts.

4. Meditate

Meditation is an excellent way to focus your mind and awaken your brain in the morning. Make the time to sit and mediate for 15 minutes each morning, focusing on only your breath and heartbeat. Your mediation session will leave you feeling calm and able to begin creating your day. Mediate again before bed in order to let your mind naturally sift through the remnants of the day and prepare yourself for a restful sleep.

5. Music

Music is a great workout for the mind. Listening to the right type of music will allow your brain to process information better and become more receptive to that information. Listening to classical music composed by Mozart or Beethoven is highly recommended.

6. Get plenty of rest.

Some scientists believe that the poor sleep patterns and sleep deprivation experienced by many overworked adults - contribute to forgetfulness and memory loss. Aim for at least 7 or more hours of sleep each night to keep your brain functioning at its best.

7. Never stop learning

Look for topics that interest you and really get involved with learning new information and developments about them. Think of something that you've always wanted to learn to do and then get started. Reading, following lectures, programs, information on television and the Internet, are sources of continuous education for your brain with beneficial results to your memory.

8. Reduce Stress

when you're Stress or anxious, you can't concentrate or process information. Learn to calm yourself with breathing exercises. Yoga offers a great way to unwind. Remind yourself of what's important and good in your life. Let the rest of it go.

9. Take a vitamin

Vitamin and nutrients stimulate the functioning of brain and are beneficial in memory retention. Certain vitamins play an important role in brain health and memory, including B-vitamins, choline, vitamin E, vitamin C, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and other antioxidant nutrients.

10. Aromatherapy

Studies show aromatherapy can be used for both the body and the mind, helping to ease physical and emotional illnesses and improve mood, memory and concentration. One herb that particularly helps the brain is rosemary.

Emotion in Poetry: Analogy

According to Prentice Hall's Writer's Companion, "an analogy is an extended comparison in which one thing, usually more familiar, is compared to something less familiar. A striking analogy can make a commonplace subject come alive with new meaning."

Therefore, if I compare a school with a hill of ants, I've created an analogy, if I make the comparison long enough.

However, we shouldn't confuse analogy with metaphor or simile. An analogy is an extended comparison, not one of just two or a few more words. In poetry, an analogy is often the complete poem. Some people consider an analogy an extended metaphor.

Let's examine a poem by Amy Lowell which uses the analogy of mares with night clouds. By describing the imagery of mares, she creates the word picture of clouds on a moon lit night.

Night Clouds

by Amy Lowell

The white mares of the moon rush along the sky

Beating their golden hoofs upon the glass Heavens;

The white mares of the moon are all standing on their hind legs

Pawing at the green porcelain doors of trhe remote Heaves.

Fly, Mares!

Strain your utmost.

Scatter the milky dust of stars,

Or the tiger sun will leap upon you and destroy you

With one lick of his vermillion tongue.

(from Prentice Hall's Literature Platinum)

Also note the comparison of the sun with a tiger.

A few of my poems are analogies. I would like to share at least two with you:

Dreary Day

The dreary day outside is gray

Without even a hint of sun.

Clouds drag where our dreams once lay,

Trying to destroy everyone's fun.

Without even a hint of sun,

No rainbow can grace the sky.

Trying to destroy everyone's fun,

The storm drives laughter awry.

No rainbow can grace the sky

With drab rain falling, never done.

The storm drives laughter awry

Before the tears have begun.

With drab rain falling, never done,

Clouds drag where our dreams once lay

Before the tears have begun.

The dreary day outside is gray.

(copyright 2005 by Vivian Gilbert Zabel)

"Dreary Day" compares the dreary day to sorrow. Tears are rain; grayness and lack of sunshine equals missing joy.

Day's Journey

The day dawns as a journey.

One leaves the station on a train,

Rushing past other places

Without a pause or stop,

Watching faces blur as they pass,

No time to say goodbye.

On and on the train does speed

Until the line's end one sees,

Another sunset down

Without any lasting memories.

(copyright 2005 by Vivian Gilbert Zabel)

"Day's Journey" lets us view life as a train ride, one day's travel at a time.

Hopefully you will now be able to use analogy in your poetry, as an aid in enhancing emotion, or as a way to increase imagery.

Proof That Humans Have a Soul

The experiment is called Carpathia and it has had very interesting results. Carpathia takes place on the roof of a hospital where an array of equipment is set up. This equipment attempts to measure changes in energy levels and other abnormalities and matches them to a patient's time of death in the hospital below.

One part of the experiment involves a laser grid. Anything with mass will break the laser grid which also sets off an alarm. Numerous other types of detectors are also set up on the roof (radar, EMF, etc.)

The results of this experiment were that several laser beams broke with no visible obstruction, but one of the beam breaks included an increase in EMF readings and activated the radar detector.  The time of this event was later matched to a patient's death on the 3rdfloor. The event occurred just two minutes after the recorded time of death. Of course, more tests would need to be done, but if there is a measurable energy that seems to leave the body upon death then that tells us something. Here are the details of the Carpathia experiment:

What you are going to do is attempt to detect increased energy levels above a human body at the time of death (i.e. the soul rising out of the body.)  You can setup your equipment on a hospital roof.  The best case would be to get into the actual room, but I doubt that is going to happen. Here is the equipment list:

1) Lasers - that will sound an alarm if the beam is broken.

2) EMF and Radar detectors.

3) H2 surround sound microphone to determine the direction of any sounds recorded.

4) Any other kind of detectors you can think of.

These devices are laid out in a grid pattern above the patient's rooms. You will need to send someone down below to find out which patients are near death and focus your equipment in that area.

The goal is to match events on the roof with the time of death down below. For example, if things go crazy up on the roof at 1:30pm and you learn that a patient died down below at 1:28pm, then you may have discovered something huge. The H2 recorder will tell you from what direction any sounds come from. Take great care when conducting an experiment like this for obvious reasons.

Monterey - The Soul of Steinbeck Country

California, the State. San Francisco, the city. Monterey, the town. John Steinbeck, the author. For this Steinbeck fan, San Francisco is quite close to heaven. From San Francisco it is an easy drive down the peninsula to Santa Cruz and into Steinbeck territory.

I fly into San Francisco airport late in the afternoon. The signs are immediate America. 'No Ped Xing', 'Squeeze right', 'Occupation by more than 132 persons unlawful'. From Rent-a-Wreck I collect a Chevrolet in two tones -- cat-sick green and vile yellow. A veritable pimpmobile. And was it not in a car like this I drove into San Francisco for the 1967 Summer of Love, to follow Timothy Leary's instructions to 'turn on, tune in, and drop out'?

It was. And was it not in very much the same automobile I parked outside the City Lights Bookstore and went in and listened to Ginsberg recite 'Howl' and got Jack Kerouac to sign my copy of 'The Dharma Bums'? It was. This antediluvian American monster is the car of my youth. Be damned to the characterless compacts of today. (It is a sad reflection on progress that the Rent-a-Wreck franchise now rents modern compacts.)

Now I drive across Highway 92 and its beguiling signs leading to San Jose along the Camino Real -- the Royal Road. (Yes, I know the way to San Jose and a sterile, dreary city it is.)

Swing on to Highway 1, America's very own Pacific Highway, which takes me down the peninsula and along the coast, the rugged, rocky coast on the right, the remains of cypress forests on my left - and goes through Santa Cruz to Monterey. Coming back, I will use Highway 9 which is a backroad, in spite of the grandiose title, and follow the San Lorenzo river up, up into the Santa Cruz mountains and then through the magnificence of California redwoods in the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.

If I have enough time, on the way back I will stop at Felton on Highway 9 and ride on a steam train for an hour of nostalgia on the wondrously named Roaring Camp and Big Trees narrow-gauge railway line. No railway line of my youth ever swooped through stands of redwoods; it is true that only God could have made these trees, one of which is within spit of being a hundred meters tall.

No train in the darkness of the Rhondda Valley in Wales puffed like the 'Little Red Engine' -- I think I can, I think I can -- up one of the steepest railway gradients in the world to Bear Mountain.

But that is on the morrow. Today is for blessed Monterey. Robert Louis Stevenson in travel-book mode wrote of Monterey in a fish-hook simile as being 'cosily ensconced beside the barb'. (At the time Stevenson was skulking around Monterey, waiting for the divorce of the light of his life, Fanny Osbourne.) Much earlier than Stevenson, Gaspar de Portola and the intrepid explorer for God, Father Junipero Serra, claimed Monterey for Spain and the Holy Catholic Church by establishing a fort and a mission in 1777. Now I claim it, yet again, for myself.

The sea as I drive down the coast road is white with rage and foam. A hurricane has been creating havoc at sea and in Mexico. This is the dying fringe of the storm. Waves slam against the rocky coast and burst in white flags to mark the route ahead. I see no sea lions or seals as I did last year. Perhaps the sea is too rough. Perhaps they have a shelter where they hide from the big waves. Perhaps.

I am staying at the Monterey Bay Inn simply because of its address, 242 Cannery Row. From here, last night, I walked past the appalling tourist mockery that is Fisherman's Wharf -- what sins are committed for the tourist dollar -- and on to the Municipal Wharf at the end of Figuero Street. This is where the real fishing fleet is moored; where the buildings are designed for work, not tourist, and the pelicans stalk the fish-smelling docks and landings. Pure Steinbeck.

Last night I dreamed I was Doc Rickett and that I still worked in my laboratory among the wonderful desperates of 'Cannery Row'. This morning, over breakfast, I consider sadly the strong moral purpose that ran through all of John Steinbeck's 'Cannery Row' novels. He was worried the major canning companies would, by dint of financial muscle, bully their way into ownership or control of all of the agricultural land in the area. Steinbeck was right to be worried. For that is what has come to pass.

Sad also to realize that the year 'Cannery Row' was published, 1945, was the year the sardine fishing industry of Monterey died. As Steinbeck said at a later time: 'They are fishing for tourists now.' In the heyday of Monterey there were eighteen canneries, 100-odd fishing boats, 4,000 workers, three gaudy brothels and a terrible smell of dead fish. Now, nearly all are gone.

(It used to be that Monterey, and nearby Salinas where he was born, was angry and ashamed of John Steinbeck. In 1944, after the success of 'The Grapes of Wrath' Steinbeck bought a house in Monterey; no one would rent him an office for writing. He was harassed when trying to get fuel and wood from a local wartime rations board. He wrote that his old friends did not want him, partly because of his works and partly because he was so successful: 'This isn't my country anymore. And it won't be until I am dead. It makes me very sad.' He late wrote: 'After I had written "The Grapes of Wrath" . . . the librarians at the Salinas Public Library, who had known my folks remarked that is was lucky my parents were dead so that they did not have to suffer this shame.'

In truth, the whole American literary establishment should fry in hell for their treatment of this author. When Steinbeck won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1962 he was damned in newspapers with faint praise. 'The New York Times' in particular should hang its head in shame.)

Now there is a National Steinbeck Center in Salinas, about 25 km inland from Monterey. It is not for me. I am not of the school who thinks these things can be packaged, tarted up, represented. Of itself the center says: 'Discover Steinbeck's works and philosophy through interactive, multisensory exhibits for all ages and backgrounds, priceless artifacts, entertaining displays, educational programs and research archives. Seven themed theaters showcase "East of Eden", "Cannery Row", "Of Mice and Men", "The Grapes of Wrath" and much more.' That is not my scene.

Yet we can still see the old Cannery Row if we look with care.

This morning I go to Foam Street, where the true Cannery Row starts. I stand silently on the stone pilings of the deserted loading dock. A pleasant melancholy. It would have been better if I had delayed my visit by a couple of months. For this is the end of summer and the weather is still too warm, too pleasant for my mood. Cannery Row needs a touch of cold damp in the air for true dismal authenticity. And it is wrong that I should be here on a Saturday. Thursday, Sweet Thursday, is surely the only day to visit Monterey. But how can we change a business itinerary for literary requirements?

Much in Monterey remains the same, much has changed. La Ida Cafe of blessed memory is now Kalisa's, down from my hotel at 851 Cannery Row. Wing Chong Market, at 835, has been transmogrified into the Old General Store and the building that once held Doc Rickett's Marine Lab still stands at 800 Cannery Row. Last time I was here it was a private club and I managed to smooth-talk my way in. This morning it seems sadly deserted and I am told it is owned by the city of Monterey and the public is not welcome.

Do not confuse this, the genuine article, with Doc Rickett's Lab, which is a restaurant at 180 E Franklin Street, and is not the sort of place Doc Rickett would have dined at, but didn't.

When I have finished writing, I will stroll down to Sancho Panza for lunch. This restaurant is in an adobe building built in 1841 in Calle Principal -- Main Street. There, in the crowded, low-ceilinged room, I will drink Mexican Corona beer with slices of lime and eat chile con carne con frijoles and remember John Steinbeck, the writer who gave me the smell, the feel, the reality of Monterey when I was a small boy in Wales.

Boxing Memories Of Past Years

Boxing has been around for a very long time. During the great history of boxing were some amazing matches. These matches showed the true heart and determination of the human soul. They also show the power and skill that some boxers possess. It seems that these traits can not be found in boxers these days. I have watched quite a few boxing matches lately, and I have yet to see a match that is even close to measuring up to some of these old boxing matches. I am only going to look at one of my favorite boxing memories that I had when I was a kid, but I could discuss many more. The boxing match that I can remember very vividly in my mind was the Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns fight.

The fight between Leonard and Hearns was one for the ages. Hearns was a big puncher and caused quite a bit of damage to Leonard's eye. However Sugar Ray would not quit fighting, and hurt Hearns during the middle rounds. By the thirteenth round Sugar Ray was way behind on all of the judge's score cards, however the match was about to change. Sugar Ray landed a barrage of punches to Hearns' head, and he staggered backwards. Sugar Ray kept charging and knocked Hearns through the ropes onto a table outside of the ring. You would think that this would have ended the fight, but Hearns had enough heart to keep fighting. Sugar Ray would eventually finish the fight in the next round when the referee stopped the fight by technical knockout.

This match would have lasting effects on both boxers' careers. Hearns would leave this match and go on to win many world championships, but this fight would always linger in people's minds as a blemish on his career. Leonard suffered a detached retina in this fight, which caused him to retire for the first time. Leonard would later come back two different times and fight for another ten years. Leonard also went on to ink many endorsement deals after this fight, and Hearns always believed the reason he did not get many deals of his own was because he lost this fight.

How to Clear Negative Energy From Your Home

Do you know that feeling you have when you get towards the end of Winter, and all you want to do is open up the place and air it out? Your home feels stuffy, heavy and stale after being closed up for months and you know that a good airing will lighten everything up. Well when you do that, you are clearing your home of negative energy. This article is all about simple ways to clear out stale and even negative energy, brightening up your home and lifting the mood.

Even in the most positive of homes, negative energy can gather. There are so many ways in which negative energy gathers or is generated in your home. A moody housemate, traumatic history (of a person or the house itself), even by interacting with others, going to a shopping mall or work you can pick garbage up in your energy field and bring it home. Whatever the reasons, negative energy gathers over time, and needs to be cleansed.

The Effects of Negative Energy

Negative energy is at best like a wet blanket. It brings the mood of the house down. Anyone that suffers from depression, is much more likely to experience the blues in a grungy home. If someone is anxiety prone, it is much harder to stay calm where heavy energy prevails. Accidents, flickers and movement out of the corner of your eye, illness, are often indicators of negative energy. All of this can often be prevented simply by regularly clearing the energy of your home.

Just to be clear, 'Negative Energy' covers a diverse list of 'garbage'. The methods of cleansing here are tools that anyone can use and work well for clearing basic 'stuffy' or 'heavy' energy. If you are seeing dark movements out of the corner of your eye for example, then using these tools will usually clear that. However if you are experiencing more than that - knocking sounds, entity appearance (ghosts, or any presence that makes you feel uncomfortable) then unless you feel competent to do so, it is better to get a professional to rid the problem for you.

Methods of Clearing

There are countless ways to clear your home, here are a few easy and effective methods that anyone can use.

Spring Cleaning - Cleaning out your home, opening all of the doors, windows, cupboards and drawers, letting the sunshine and fresh air in and brushing out the cobwebs is a very effective method of clearing. While you have everything open, take your broom and gently brush the walls right throughout, behind the doors, in wardrobes and so on. Heavy energy is palpable and so can often be cleared out by breaking it up with a broom. For a really good clearing, pull stuff out of wardrobes, clear out clutter (gunky energy loves hanging on to stuff we hang on to but no longer need - the two things have similar resonance). Whilst all of this is happening, play lively music, dance and play - all of this is light-generating and is unbearable for negative energy.

Light Work - Cup your hands together to create a closed off cave and imagine your house in the cave. Now imagine angels are flooding the house with light, dissolving away the muck. See the light getting right into the fibres of the wood and other materials the house is made of (carpet, metal, etc) dissolving all the hidden build up of grime and heavy energy. If you still feel the house needs more cleansing, do the same thing, but with just one room at a time in your hands.

Smoke and Noise - Go to your local Mystical supplies shop and pick up a smudge wand of sage. Hold a small ceremony where you set the intention of cleansing negative energy, restoring your home to the Light. Once the sage wand is smouldering, dedicate the smoke to Divine Light (according to your beliefs). Then, move through your home room by room, brushing the sage smoke around the walls, in the nooks and crannies, everywhere. You can also use a drum and bell to break up the negative energy and then use the smoke to brush it away.

Before and after any cleansing work, make sure you clear your own energy using the same technique - for the Spring Clean, have a shower, for the Light Work, imagine yourself in the cave being flooded with light and for the 'Smoke and Noise' - brush the sage smoke through your own energy field.

This subject is wide and diverse and can so easily become a study of lifetimes, however the purpose of this article is to provide a few simple versions of commonly used procedures for most people to use without having to train in depth. Remember, if you feel out of your depth, then commission a professional Energy Surgeon or Shaman (for example) to do the work for you. Many Energy Surgeons can work long distance and don't need to be present in your home to complete the task (no matter how serious the problem may have become). But for simple, regular clearing, most people are perfectly capable of doing the work themselves.

High Intensity Training (HIT) - How Effective is It?

If you want to reshape your body, weight training is a must. But it takes more than lifting light weights if you really want to make a significant change. It takes high intensity training, or HIT, as it is usually called, and it is effective. The technique has been pushed and publicized extensively by many people over the last couple of decades, including "Mr. America" winner, Mike Mentzer, Bill Phillips (author of "Body for Life"), Art Jones (builder of Nautilus equipment) and Ellington Darden who (some say) wrote the "Bible" on HIT.

HIT is based on intensity -- extreme intensity -- and it definitely brings results. The magic of HIT according Phillips is the "high point." Mentzer calls it the "break over point." Regardless of what you call it, it's the point in the set (usually the last rep) where muscle growth is stimulated. Below it, nothing happens, so it is indeed, a 'magic point." The idea is to continue your reps to the point where you can no longer lift the weight, or even budge it an inch. It is the point of "total failure," and it is also the magic point you are looking for. Only when you completely exhaust your muscles do they grow. It's that incredible all or nothing effort that does it. Mentzer gives a metaphor that I think is quite apt. He says, "exercise and muscle growth are like a stick of dynamite and a hammer. Hit the dynamite lightly and nothing happens (even if you hit it ten times), but hit it hard enough and ... boom! The same situation occurs with muscle growth and weight training. "Easy" weight lifting won't help much, but reach the "high point" and ... boom! Muscles suddenly appear. Phillips describes the situation as, "The stimulus to trigger muscle growth happens fast, or not at all."

How hard do you have to train to stimulate this growth? According to Phillips you have to train with "heart and soul." According to Art Jones you have to train so hard "you throw up." (That 's a little too much for me, but I think it gives you the message.) You not only have to work out hard, but you have to go beyond that. It may surprise you, but when you think you're completely exhausted, you usually aren't. You can usually squeeze out one more rep. This basically is what you want: take your reps to the limit, then squeeze out one more.

You are no doubt wondering, with a program such as this, how long it takes to see results. With high intensity training (and I'm assuming it truly is HIT) they'll come fast -- in only a few weeks. What you will see first is an increase in strength. Where you could only do three chinups last week, you can now do eight, and so on. In short, an increase in strength comes first, then an increase in muscle size.

Let me end this by saying that the key is quality, not quantity. Intensive weight training will bring you a lot more than long duration, easy, workouts. Indeed, you might make no gains at all with light weights and long duration. But, of course, any exercise is better than none.

Savatage - Handful of Rain

Savatage - 2. Handful of Rain - Handful of Rain The night is growing dark From somewhere deep within It shelters like an ark That always takes you in The barmaid walks on over And pours another round For a lost soul at the corner Who prays he's never found And the mind goes numb Until it's feeling no pain And the soul cries out For a handful of rain Wash your women In your Whiskey When your future's In the past And your staring Up at heaven From the bottom Of a glass And you need some insulation From the years you've Had and lost And you feel the perspiration As you're adding up the cost And the night rolls on Like a slow moving train And the soul cries out There's a land beyond the living There's a land beyond the dead If it's true that God's forgiving Of the lives that we had led In the distance there's a thunder And the air is thick and warm And the patrons watch with wonder The approaching of the storm And the night rolls on Like a slow moving train And the soul cries out For a handful of rain There's an old man in the corner And he's smoking all the time An the smoke is drifting upward and it's Twisting in my Twisting in my Mind In my mind The whiskey's getting deeper And I use it like a moat There's a blues man in the distance and he's Lost inside his Note His note The night is growing dark From somewhere deep within It shelters like an ark That always takes you in And the night rolls on Like a slow moving train And the soul cries out For an handful of rain

Top 10 Cardiovascular Exercises

February 14th, better known as Valentine's Day, is a holiday in which lovers exchange tokens of their affection coming from the heart. However, this won't be the hearts only job on this special day. The heart will also pump on average about 1,900 gallons of blood a day, which travels throughout the entire body delivering oxygen and nutrients while removing waste and carbon dioxide, sustaining life. The stronger your heart the more likely you are to live a long and healthy, disease free life. Here are my top 10 cardiovascular exercises to help keep your heart strong and efficient.

1. Running: The best and most effective way to lower your resting heart rate, running also helps burn calories, strengthens bones, improves joint stability, relieves stress and improves coordination. Running is great for the mind, body and soul.

2. Spinning: Spin bike classes are high intensity, challenging and extremely motivating. Keeping on beat and adjusting resistance levels and speed with the music makes for an endless amount of workouts that will never leave you bored.

3. Rowing: A popular water sport made possible to do indoors, rowing on a good rowing machine is an above average cardiovascular workout that also helps strengthen the back, shoulders, arms, legs and core.

4. Kick-Boxing: An interactive and fun way to increase your fitness level, cardio kick-boxing will have you punching, kicking, kneeing and elbowing your way to a healthier heart while teaching you basic but valuable self defence techniques.

5. Stepping: Whether on a stairmaster step machine or taking the stairs at your home or work, climbing or stepping has long been a popular way to burn calories while toning the lower body and training the heart and lungs.

6. Skipping: A once popular school yard game is now an intense cardio warm-up used often by boxers, mixed martial artists and other professional athletes. Skipping is great for timing, balance, speed and agility as well as working up a good sweat.

7. Aerobics: Step aerobics has been around the fitness industry for decades and is a very popular and energetic way to train in a group setting, with friends or alone. A good instructor or DVD is a great way to take full advantage of the ageless wonder known as the stepping platform.

8. Cross-Training: As an effective alternative to running without the wear and tear, elliptical cross-trainers simulate a running motion but keep your feet in contact with the pedals. They offer various levels of resistance to make your workouts harder.

9. Incline Walking: For those who cannot withstand the high impact of running, adding a hill to your regular walk or an incline on your treadmill can effectively maximize your heart rate during workouts.

10. Swimming: This is a no impact, enjoyable way to exercise, great for the mature and motivated client, for children and for anyone rehabbing from an injury.

So if you want to be around to spend many more Valentine's days with your loved one, take the time to regularly exercise your heart. My recommendation would be a minimum 30 minutes of activity per day. It doesn't all have to be at once either. Remember, if you can't take care of your own heart how can you take care of someone else's?

Best, Cheapest Place For Buying a Ferret Online

Search engines and browsers have a new role these days. With the growing number of ferret owners, it is normal to see everything online starting from ferret cages, homes and accessories up to the number of inexpensive sites for buying a ferret online.

Relatively, many seller sites bank on photos of available items including ferrets. They also include descriptions, price and payment details. Buyers also have the options to either have their ferrets delivered or pick it personally. Ferret age, color and breed are also indicated for prospective buyers.

Buying a ferret online can be too easy for many. However, a beginner has to find the best deals. Aside from knowing which type of ferret to purchase, it is also a must to consider several factors in buying. Below are samples of places where you can shop for inexpensive ferrets and supplies.

1. Arguably, the best place for buying a ferret online is through shops and resource sites. The trick is to find a number of relative sites, browse for availabilities and decide. The advantage is clearly present as you no longer need to go elsewhere to find ferret items and supplies. Apparently, buying a ferret online is like getting inside a one-stop shop.

2. You may also find breeders who sell ferrets online. Fielding a negotiation may give you the best deals once you and the breeder settled for a price. A breeder's personal site may also give you lots of information regarding ferret owning and breeding. In the process, you are not only getting your pet at the best price but finding a great resource of valuable content.

3. You may also inquire from animal shelters and refer to their respective sites. Owning a ferret becomes more meaningful once you discover that your interest goes beyond having a pet. It is like bringing in a poor soul to your haven so that it can be given proper shelter. Some animal organizations even use the money to support other causes as well, which makes it even more rewarding.

As a prospective owner, looking for outright sources may mean less cost and good investment. However, owning a ferret is more than any of these concerns. Bringing in a ferret inside your living area is not only indicative of your time but dedication to pet owning, mainly because you are also bringing in a list of possible consequences in having a ferret.

Your concerns may start by buying a ferret online or achieving a result using virtual means. However, it is your personal commitment that separates your motive from your actual intent. With regards to ferrets, it is best to buy them in the most inexpensive way but taking care of these beings requires not the least methods and practices.

Top Ten Tips for Taking the Bar Exam

Taking the bar exam? Want to succeed? Here's a few tips from a poor soul that had to take the bar exam in two different states...and taking these tips to heart helped her pass the first time, both times.

1. Understand the distinctions in the law, and understand them well. If you don't understand them, or you think you "sort of" do, make sure you talk to other students or appropriate person. This is especially important for multiple choice.
2. SLEEP. Every night. 8 hours. Your brain needs to process and rest. Its better to get the sleep and feel refreshed instead of cramming that last piece of information in that you won't remember, anyway, because you're too tired.
3. It's a marathon, not a sprint, so you need to be able to train yourself appropriately. Your brain is like a muscle--you probably haven't utilized it ever before like you will in the bar exam, so you need to realize that you actually have to train yourself to absorb more and more information over time.
4. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed. If you ARE getting overwhelmed, stop, breathe, think of something else for a few minutes, go for a walk, work out, go to the beach for a short swim!
5. Don't underestimate the bar exam. Just as some of you have to control your tendency to freak out and find it all too much, some of you have to remember that this is big--a lot of money and a lot of wasted time if you do not take it seriously. Study every day, no matter what, for at least a few hours.
6. The biggest fear, of course, is fear of failure. But quit fearing failure if it is driving you to panic (which then will drive you to fail, because you can't think). The reality is-those of us that have taken the bar know that it is incredibly difficult. I don't know a single person that was 100% confident they passed right after they took it. If you fail, we won't look down on you, we know how hard it is --and how easy it could be to slip into panic. Take a breath, know you can do it again and it will not be the end of the world, I promise.
7. FOCUS. Keep your mind on the matter. Make the time you spend studying QUALITY time, as opposed to quantity. I personally would rather study in a focused manner for 2-3 hours than spend 8 hours doing it half-heartedly, wouldn't you?
8. Know, now, that your friends and family, no matter how well-intentioned, do not understand what it means to study for the bar exam. Your girlfriend will be bitter. Your husband will be lonely. Your children will make as many demands, if not more, than they did before. Your friends will not understand why you just can't go out for "one." Prepare them as far in advance as possible...before graduation, even before 3d year starts! "I will not be available for this time period. Do not ask me questions. Do not expect me to understand simple questions like, what do you want for dinner?--because I will be thinking about the constitutional requirements for search and seizure." Reduce your stress by preparing them well in advance--you won't be available, and you mean it!
I think these two following tips helped me immensely in preparing for the bar, because I deliberately kept away from the day to day pressure in the time leading up to the bar exam. I firmly believe that following this advice helped me keep a level head. For these reasons, as another tip, I do not recommend attending a bar review lecture course (except possibly the one, whose name will not be mentioned, that is 2 days in the beginning), but rather listening to the lectures in CD format (because bar review courses is where everyone congregates and obsesses):
9. DO NOT sit and obsess with everyone else about the bar exam (this includes the days of the bar exam).
10. DO NOT compare the amount you study to what others say they are studying. Its irrelevant. The quality of your time and focus, and covering all the material, is what matters.
The key components to success, in a nutshell, are that you learn to focus and avoid distractions, especially those that are emotionally draining/straining.
